Jaguar 4.2L 180°F Low-Temperature Thermostat Insert

Jaguar 4.2L low-temperature thermostat insert by Alpha Jag is designed for compatible Jaguar 4.2L V8 cooling systems using the factory three-piece thermostat arrangement.

This is more than simply a lower-temperature thermostat. The Alpha Jag insert also addresses an important weakness of the factory design by eliminating the rubber surround used around the OEM thermostat insert.

Eliminates the OEM Rubber-Surround Failure Point

The factory Jaguar thermostat insert uses a rubber surround as part of the thermostat assembly. With age, coolant exposure and repeated heat cycling, this rubber component can deteriorate and become a failure point in the original thermostat design.

The Alpha Jag insert eliminates this rubber surround entirely. This removes the rubber component from the thermostat insert design while retaining proper fitment within the compatible factory three-piece thermostat assembly.

180°F Performance Thermostat

The factory thermostat is approximately 190°F / 88°C. The Alpha Jag performance insert is rated at approximately 180°F / 82°C, allowing the thermostat to begin opening earlier and providing additional cooling-system headroom before coolant temperatures rise under sustained load.

A lower-temperature thermostat does not force the engine to operate at exactly 180°F. Actual coolant temperature will still depend on vehicle speed, ambient conditions, radiator efficiency, engine load, fan strategy and the overall condition of the cooling system.

Ideal for Supercharged and Modified 4.2L Jaguars

This upgrade is particularly well suited to performance-oriented Jaguar 4.2L V8 applications, including supercharged vehicles that experience increased thermal load from higher power levels and sustained high-speed operation.

Thermostat Insert Only – $85

For customers who only need the hardware upgrade, the Alpha Jag 180°F thermostat insert is available separately for $85.

This option includes the direct-fit low-temperature insert that eliminates the factory rubber-surround weak point.

ECU Tuning Cooling Package – $195

For vehicles receiving an Alpha Jag ECU calibration/remap, choose the $195 Cooling Package.

The package includes:

• Alpha Jag 180°F low-temperature thermostat insert
• Cooling-fan activation reprogramming within the ECU calibration
• Fan strategy adjusted to complement the lower-temperature thermostat

This allows the mechanical thermostat opening point and ECU-controlled fan strategy to work together rather than installing a lower-temperature thermostat while retaining an unchanged factory fan calibration.

The $195 Cooling Package is intended as an add-on to an Alpha Jag ECU calibration/remap.
